This freshly redesigned DreamHost account overview provides a bird’s-eye view of your websites’ overall health, allowing you to set their purpose, monitor your domain registration and DNS status, quickly access email addresses, and more. You’ll also receive timely alerts when we detect issues, helping you quickly address them and implement solutions. It’s also now easier than ever to get started adding content or installing WordPress, as we’ve streamlined the process of building and expanding your online presence.

Complete list of features:

• Personalized dashboard, with suggestions tailored to your sites’ unique needs
• You can define a website’s purpose, which will enable views and suggestions to help you achieve your website goals.
• Your hosting plan(s), renewal dates, and total storage used (if applicable) are more clearly visible.
• A Registration tile will show your domains’ renewal status, including when they are due for renewal or if they have expired.
• A DNS tile indicates whether a domain’s DNS records have fully or partially propagated successfully.

• Enhanced Usage Metrics & Reporting: Get precise, user-friendly metrics for “RAM” and “Disk” usage on a daily, weekly, and biweekly basis. We track these metrics to notify you of critical levels in the future, and will then work with you to optimize your resource usage.  Staying within your server limits results in better site performance!
• Auto-Boost RAM Protection & Activation Alert: When your server reaches its RAM capacity, you will now see “Auto Boost Active” turned on in the Server Dashboard. Auto Boost is a new feature that will temporarily assign additional memory resources to your server to maintain optimal system performance, giving you a chance to optimize (or upgrade) your server as needed.
• Full Integration of Proxy Server Management: We have fully integrated proxy server management controls into the Dashboard to enhance this essential VPS-specific feature. Tools for managing NGINX and mail servers are now more accessible than ever.

This latest round of enhancements includes the following features:

A Reimagined “Manage Websites” List View

A new, modernized “Manage Websites” list view aligns with our latest design principles and is packed with essential information, providing a bird’s-eye view of the status of each domain on your DreamHost account. Now, you can easily:

• Stay ahead of domain expiration dates with enhanced visibility of renewal dates.
• View the hosting plan and server associated with each of your domains/websites.
• View a list of domains or websites categorized by their “Hosted” and “Non-Hosted” status for easier management. 
• Sort domains based on a variety of new criteria (e.g., Newest, Oldest, Alphabetical) and filter by Domain, Server, or Plan type. 
• Instantly identify the SSL certificate status as secure or insecure for each domain.
• View all active and available premium add-ons for each domain.

Faster Panel Speeds for Greater Efficiency

Several backend improvements have been implemented to accelerate major tasks, enhancing the “Manage Websites” experience with increased speed and efficiency.

As a result, The “Manage Email” section of our customer control panel has been jam-packed with features.  To help make sense of it all, we’ve recently dedicated a lot of time toward simplifying the user experience and ensuring that features and options are easily discoverable.

Designed for efficiency, this revamped dashboard includes the following new features and improvements: 

• Search for a specific email address or domain, or filter by email type.
• Email addresses are now automatically sorted by domain name.  
• Any domain name with active email service will now display any established spam filters, discussion lists, and announcement lists.
• We now identify mailbox types with a new status column and visual indicator.

A Fresh Take on Creating New Email Addresses

Creating an email address should be a quick and straightforward process. With our all-new, streamlined flow, you can zip through email setup and be on your way to sending and managing your email in no time at all.

An Easier Way to Manage Your Mailboxes

DreamHost is thrilled to unveil major updates to the “Manage Websites” experience in our panel!

When we launched “Manage Websites” in 2021, our main goal was to enhance your satisfaction by providing an improved experience for managing website-related functions in the panel. We also aimed to establish a platform with substantial room for growth, enabling us to expand our services and deliver the features our customers desire.

In response to your invaluable feedback via support interactions and in-panel surveys, we have incorporated a multitude of improvements and requested features from “Hosted Domains” (previously “Manage Domains”) into “Manage Websites,” which now serves as the central hub for managing websites in the panel.

“Manage Your Site” Refresh

The “Manage Your Site” block in the “Website” tab has been revamped with a fresh look and new functionality. Now you can: 

• Enable or disable SSH access on a user.

• Assign a domain to a different SFTP/SSH user associated with the account.
• Copy over files to a different SFTP/SSH user assigned to a domain (turned on by default).

New “Additional Settings” Section

A new section called “Additional Settings” has been introduced in the “Website” tab. A range of settings can now be managed from the two new sub-categories, “Paths” and “Web Options.”      

Paths 

• Modify the web directory that your domain files are accessed from. 
• View or copy the complete path to the logs directory (non-editable).

Web Options 

• Turn on or off Web Application Firewall (previously known as “Extra Web Security”). 
• Enable PHP OpCache and Passenger (Ruby/NodeJS/Python apps only).

New “Non-Hosting Options” – Redirect and Domain Mirror

The “Add Website” experience now offers Hosted and Non-Hosted options. 

• The “Hosted” category will display all available hosting service options on the account. 
• The new “Non-Hosted” category will display domain status options not associated with a fully hosted service such as Redirect, Parked, and Domain Mirror.

As part of this update, we have also retired the “Hosted Domains” page in the panel. For a comprehensive overview of the old and new processes, please refer to our Knowledge Base article here. 

This change leads to a more streamlined and consolidated experience for you as we continuously work to enhance and improve “Manage Websites.”

That includes making improvements to the FTP (file transfer protocol), a standard communication protocol used for the transfer of computer files from a server to a client on a computer network.

In order to resolve your pain points and meet or exceed your needs, we’ve been hearing what you have to say about your user experience. We’ve used your feedback as fuel to completely redesign how you manage your user accounts and interact with the files on your account. It’s now much easier to manage user accounts and SFTP credentials.

The aim of the “FTP Users & Files” improvement project was to implement changes based on direct feedback from our customers so we’re providing a faster and more streamlined panel experience.

Product Updates Based on Your Feedback

User Management

One of the main points of feedback we received was the need to be able to identify and manage username and file information more easily. In response to this feedback, we have redesigned how important user information is presented. Web panel users now have multiple ways to view and manage usernames related to their server management. This includes the ability to view usernames in a single list or group by hosting service. It’s now possible to search by specific username, domain, or server directly from within the web panel. In addition, new tools have been introduced to allow for filtering by selected domains and/or server.

Creating a new username has been streamlined to provide a faster experience with fewer barriers to getting started.

Files Access

The “Files Access” area of the page has been redesigned to provide all essential information required to connect to a web server, and is accessible within a single click from the users page. As part of this change, we have included new descriptive tooltips and help resources to better explain the purpose of each field.

Enhanced Security

A stronger emphasis on secure connection types is also promoted, with all usernames by default using a more secure protocol (SFTP). It’s also now faster to enable secure shell access (SSH) when necessary. FTP users manually set to use insecure connections will now be labeled as insecure to better inform the panel user, and can be set to secure (SFTP) with a single click.
